dishtowel holders using 8 inch restoration hardware grafton pulls

Instead of installing a towel bar on the kitchen island, we purchased two coordinating Grafton 8" drawer pulls from Restoration Hardware.  The 8" pulls are wide enough to hang a dishtowel on each pull and they are a lot more shallow, so they do not stick out as far as a towel bar.

White Painted Laminate Stairs with Carpet Runner

We originally had laminate floors, which continued up the stairs.  After we re-floored downstairs, we decided to paint the laminate stairs white and add a runner.  We added a skirt along the wall and painted it white to match the stairs and railing.

We painted the walls, which really brightened up house (Valspar Pelican).  Here are the before pictures, which now seem so drab:

Laundry Room Wall Vignette with Frame Built into High Chair Rail

Here's my remodeled / redecorated laundry room.  The frame is built into a shaker-style high chair rail to create a laundry room themed vignette.  The top wall color is Benjamin Moore "Misty Memories" and the bottom is Benjamin Moore "Sea Life".  Both are grays with hints of purple.  I mixed the two colors and painted the inside of the frame.  I hung floating shelves from Lowe's and added themed decor.

My washing machine is next to a wall, so the door would always hit the wall.  I kept this in mind when I was planning out the size and placement of the bottom of the frame.  Now it's protected by the frame and I also added a clear rubber bumper pad sticker.

I made "Laundromat" and "laundry guide icons" vinyl wall decals for the top and bottom of the frame.

I made a "Lost Socks" vinyl decal and applied it to a small galvenized pail to hold the unmatched socks.  Then, I bought a small piggy bank at Michael's and applied a "Loose Change" vinyl decal.

Finally, I installed two chrome double hooks onto the chair rail on the adjacent wall.  The hooks are Aubrey from Restoration Hardware.

Before
After
Here are the before and after pictures.  We also re-tiled and painted the cabinets... It's so much brighter and cheerful now!

You can find my custom laundry room decals at my etsy store:

Before and After Stained Straw Basket

Can you stain a straw basket?

I used General Finishes wood stain in Espresso, gloves and an old sock to apply the stain. The sock didn't work well getting into the nooks and crannies.  I switched to a foam brush but got the best results with a bristle paint brush.  So far, the stain is adhering well to the straw.
The basket tag was made with with CTMH Artiste cricut cartridge (notebook page #M3A4B4) and the Dimensional Elements chipboard tag.  The font is from Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons cricut cartridge.
