Bath Tub in Shower / Wet Room Bathroom Remodel

We converted our hall bathroom into a "wet room" style bathroom with the tub inside the shower.
The original bathroom had a tub/shower style bathtub and 72" double vanity.  In order to accommodate the walk-in shower, we had to downsize to a 36" single vanity.

The contractor added a half-wall and a bench inside the shower.

Vintage / Antique Espresso Stained Dresser

This was a super lucky craigslist find.  The dresser needed to be refinished but it was solid and made very well.

I stripped, sanded and then stained in espresso by General Finishes.  I used a gel topcoat wipe on urethane in satin, also by General Finishes.

I used the existing pulls on the bottom drawers.  The top center drawer knob was missing, so I went ahead and changed out the knobs with Restoration Hardware depression green glass cabinet knobs with oil-rubbed bronze finishes.

So happy with the outcome and now I finally have that unique standout piece for my entry!

VINTAGE CHALK PAINTED DRESSER IN ANTIQUED PATINA

Still searching for the perfect vintage/antique dresser for my entry...picked up this dresser at an estate sale but it was just a bit too big for my space.  It's a solid piece but obviously needed to be re-finished.  I chalk painted it with a light-blue toned Valspar "oops" paint.  Not sure of the color but it looks like a medium light blue:

I finished off with Briwax dark brown paste wax:

The dark brown paste wax dramatically changed the color, and now it's a patina greenish brown

Simple Silhouette Machine Cards Using Sketch Feature

The Silhouette Machine sketch feature is a fast and easy way to add intricate details to your projects.  I made this "Thinking of You" card using a sketch flourish design from the Silhouette store.  I also sketched the "Thinking of You" phrase.  The embossing folder is Quickutz Vines.
This "daises" sketch design is from the Silhouette store.  Even the yellow pen is bright and colorful!  The "Happy Birthday" is a regular cut from cardstock.  Paper is by Sizzix.

Cornice Box for Sliding Glass Door

We updated the sliding glass door to our balcony with Hunter Douglas shades.  I cased the frame and made a cornice box with an added wood filigree.

Vintage Powder Room / Bathroom Remodel

I always forget to take "before" pictures but it was just a builder basic bathroom.  I took on my first wainscot / bead board project and went with vintage fixtures.  The toilet and pedestal sink are from the American Standard Collection.

I also re-tiled in a white 1.5" hexagon tile with solid black daisies.

Black Painted Kitchen Cabinets

BEFORE AND AFTER KITCHEN CABINETS

I was apprehensive to take on this painting project because I have never painted cabinets before.  This is our rental house kitchen and the cabinets looked pretty shabby, so I figured that anything would be an improvement.  The builder saved some money by using laminate faces with oak frames.  The real wood areas darkened over time, but the laminate areas didn't so they looked kind of two-toned:

We took off each cabinet door and gave everything a good scrubbing with TSP.  I used BEHR® Alkyd Semi-Gloss Enamel in Molten Black.  The paint is a lot like oil-based paint but since it is water based, it was easy to clean up.  The cabinets took about three days to fully dry.

Even though the finish is quite durable, we added brushed nickel knobs and pulls.  I also painted the out-dated kitchen light frame white, so it would blend in with the ceiling.

Chalk Painted Vintage Highboy Dresser

This is my third chalk paint project.  I stripped the top and stained it espresso.  I made my own chalkpaint using latex paint and plaster of paris.  I used an "oops" paint from Home Depot so I don't know the color but it turned out exactly how I had envisioned.  Looking at the Annie Sloan color chart, it looks a lot like the Paris Grey color.

Here's the before picture... Once again, another craigslist find!
